Teenager's world has been largely expanded, as well as the world of adults. However, teenagers don't have enough experiences in life to handle world events as adults. For this reason, many teenagers suffer from anxiety.
When the teenagers go though puberty, they will suffer from a chemical imbalance. When we combine that imbalance with the pressures that so many teenagers must face in our world, it often results in anxiety.
Many medications used are not available for teenagers, so it is not easy to recognize and treat the teenager who is under 18. But some other methods, aromatherapy or holistic, are also available.
When you find the problem, take your teen to his or her doctor as soon as possible. Discuss various treatment options with the doctor, and make sure that the teenager is included in that conversation, and that he or she has a say in the decision being made. They need to feel that they are in control of something in their lives. The treatment relies on the severity of the anxiety. Some high school counselors can help out here, and if they are not qualified to help your child, they will recommend a therapist who specializes in teen care. There is no way to tell how much therapy your child will need. Each person is different, and the extent and causes of the anxiety are varied.
The most important is that your child tell you his or her feeling and you can understand what your child think. They need to understand that people who suffer from anxiety do indeed go on to live full, productive lives -- and they will, too, as long as they get the right help.
